Our Story: Rooted in Bristol

Fern & Finish was born out of a simple observation: the painting and decorating industry was long overdue for a sustainable revolution. Founded by a group of Bristol-based decorators who shared a passion for both craftsmanship and environmental responsibility, we set out to prove that beautiful interiors shouldn't come at the cost of our planet's health. We noticed that many eco-conscious households and independent businesses were struggling to find decorators who truly understood and respected their values.

In our early days, we spent countless hours researching and testing natural, plant-based paints and low-VOC finishes. We wanted to ensure that our commitment to sustainability didn't mean compromising on quality or durability. Through trial and error, we curated a selection of premium, environmentally friendly materials that deliver exceptional results. Our palette, inspired by the natural world—featuring deep forests, warm oats, and vibrant limes—reflects our ethos and brings a sense of calm and connection to nature into every space we transform.

As we grew, so did our understanding of what it means to be a truly responsible business. We implemented strict waste reduction protocols, opting for reusable dust sheets and ensuring that all leftover materials are either recycled or disposed of ethically. We also focus on educating our clients about the benefits of natural design, helping them make informed choices that contribute to healthier living and working environments.
